Scheme

Aircrew Officers and Airmen declared permanently medically unfit for flying duties and are retained in IAF,
cease to draw flying allowance. To compensate the loss/lapse of FPLI insurance cover,
an Ex Gratia Award is paid to Aircrew officers/Airmen on monthly basis from the date of
medical unfitness till date of retirement/superannuation or for a given period (as given in the table below).
Applicability
-
This is applicable to all cases arising on or after 21 Jan 1983.
The terms of the scheme as amended from time to time are as given below :-

Conditions under which Aircrew is awarded Ex-Gratia
- Declared permanently unfit for flying duties for medical reasons only.
- Ceased to draw flying allowance.
- Continues to be retained in service.
Authorisation of Ex-Gratia Award and Upgradation thereof
- BoT has approved not to effect any recovery in cases where the aircrew is upgraded from permanently medically unfit category subject to noc-credit of flying allowance during the period. This is effective from 01 Apr 22.
