Q 2.1. What is the procedure for change of nomination?

For change of nominee(s) / percentage of share under the Air Veterans Insurance Cover (AVIC) scheme the following documents are required to be forwarded:

  • Air Veterans Insurance Cover (AVIC) Memorandum/Card (in original).
  • Earlier approved copy of Nomination Form (AFGIS-224) (in original).
  • Fresh Nomination Form (AFGIS-224) in duplicate duly completed in all respects and countersigned by Adjutant / CO / Stn Cdr / AOC / Zila Sainik Board / AFA.

On receipt of the above documents, a fresh AVIC Card along with a copy of approved Nomination Form (AFGIS-224) will be forwarded to the member.


Q 2.2. Is signature of nominee compulsory in the AVIC Nomination Form (AFGIS-224) ?

Wef Jan 20 the AVIC Nomination Form (AFGIS-224) has been revised/ simplified and there is no need of the nominee to sign the form.


Q 2.3. Who is the competent authority for authentication of the AVIC Nomination Form (AFGIS-224) ?

Adjutant / CO / Stn Cdr / AOC / Zila Sainik Board / AFA are competent authorities to authenticate the AVIC Nomination Form (AFGIS-224) and countersignature of any one of these is compulsorily required.


Q 2.4. Is it compulsory to nominate alternate nominee?

No, it is not. In case, any eventuality happens to the nominee, alternate nominee will get the AVIC benefits smoothly. Hence, it is advisable to nominate alternate nominee.


Q 2.5. Who can be nominated as beneficiary by Retired member?

A member can nominate any of his family members as beneficiary viz spouse , children, parents, minor brother(s), unmarried sister(s), deceased son's widow and children where no parent of the member is alive. Paternal grandparents could also be nominated.


Q 2.6. My wife is pre-deceased and I have an adopted child. Can I nominate the adopted child for AVIC benefit?

Legally adopted child can be nominated for AVIC benefit.
