Q 1. What is 'Vishesh' Scheme?

Ans. Vishesh scheme was launched in Apr 13 with an aim of providing financial assistance to Physically Handicapped & Mentally Retarded (PHMR) children having specified disability, irrespective of whether the child is going to school or not. Payment is made on quarterly basis.


Q 2. What is the required disability percentage for ‘Vishesh Grant’ and for how many years grant is paid?

Ans. Required disability percentage for availing ‘Vishesh Grant’ is 70% & above. It is paid to the parents till the child attains 30 years of age.


Q 3. What are the eligibility criteria for 'Vishesh Grant'?

Ans. (i) Vishesh grant is applicable to all serving air warriors.
(ii) Pensionable service is required for retired and deceased air warriors for claiming Vishesh grant.


Q 4. What is the rate for Vishesh Grant?

Ans. Rate of Vishesh Grant is @ 3,000/- per month and it is paid on quarterly basis.


Q 5. What is the validity of the disability certificate?

Ans. Validity means the period for which the disability certificate is valid.

  • • In case of permanent disability/non-progressive/not likely to improve and no validity period is mentioned in the disability certificate, it is not required to forward a fresh/ renewed disability certificate. However, a copy of same duly attested by any Gazetted Officer/ CMO/SMO/ ECHS MO is required every year.
  • • In cases where validity period is mentioned in the disability certificate, a fresh/renewed disability certificate is required on expiry of its validity period.


Q 6. What all documents are required along with application?

Ans. Documents to be attached with the application are given below:-
(a) Latest copy of disability certificate indicating disability percentage of child. Certificate should have been issued by Service hospital or Civil hospital notified by Central/ State Govt and duly attested by SMO/ CMO/ MO/ ECHS Hospital.
(b) Extract of POR duly authenticated by Unit Adjutant indicating date of birth of child.

An attested copy of birth certificate.
(c) Copy of PPO as a proof of drawing pension in case of Air Veterans / Widows.
(d) Two latest passport size photographs of the child.
(e) Cancelled cheque / Bank pass book copy.
(f) Covering letter duly signed by Unit Adjutant in case of serving air warriors. For retired/ deceased category the signing authority would be Zila Sainik Board/ Air Force Association.


Q 7. During which month blank acknowledgement forms are forwarded by IAFBA to the beneficiaries?

Ans. The acknowledgement forms for the payment released are forwarded every year in the month of Nov/ Dec by IAFBA.


Q 8. Is it mandatory to submit the acknowledgement form and during with month form is to be submitted?

Ans. Yes, it is mandatory to return back duly filled acknowledgement form every year for continuation of the grant. The form must reach IAFBA before March. Handwritten acknowledgement for receipt of Vishesh Grant is also acceptable.


Q 9. From where intitial Vishesh Form and continuation Vishesh Form can be obtained/downloaded?

Ans. The forms are available on IAFBA website www.iafba.iaf.in in download section.


Q 10. Is it mandatory to update the contact details ie Address of residence/communication, Mobile No, Email and bank details?

Ans. Yes, this would enable faster communication and timely release of grant without any delay.
